May 28, 2014 - How long will it be before you allow that someone to meet your child/children?

In remembrance of the one and only Dr. Maya Angelou.  Thank you for all that you gave the world.  I could never show the impact you have had on my life, thank you!!!

I know Why The Caged Bird Sings

The free bird leaps
on the back of the wind
and floats downstream
till the current ends
and dips his wings
in the orange sun rays
and dares to claim the sky.

But a bird that stalks
down his narrow cage
can seldom see through
his bars of rage
his wings are clipped and
his feet are tied
so he opens his throat to sing.

The caged bird sings
with fearful trill
of the things unknown
but longed for still
and his tune is heard
on the distant hill
for the caged bird
sings of freedom

The free bird thinks of another breeze
and the trade winds soft through the sighing trees
and the fat worms waiting on a dawn-bright lawn
and he names the sky his own.

But a caged bird stands on the grave of dreams
his shadow shouts on a nightmare scream
his wings are clipped and his feet are tied
so he opens his throat to sing

The caged bird sings
with a fearful trill
of things unknown
but longed for still
and his tune is heard
on the distant hill
for the caged bird
sings of freedom.

  1. Wow...I don't think that you can set a specific time for this. I think that once you feel...or better yet KNOW... that it is serious and moving towards something long term, that is the best time to make introductions. No need in introductions if it is not moving towards the long term. Just because things are good, that doesn't necessarily mean that it is headed towards something serious or long term. Your kids don't need to meet everyone that you're "dating".

    1. I agree. I would not introduced my child to anyone unless it is truly on the way to being serious. No need to have them meeting just anyone. Thanks for your words Lilmama.
