The "N" words - June 24, 2015

Thank you for joining me this evening.  We are here to have a little fun, share ideas and talk like adults.  The scenario that follows is not intended to resemble anyone I know.  If it does it is purely coincidental.   I hope my stories/questions are inviting enough that you will join in the conversation.  With that being said lets have fun exchanging some words…..

If you don't know now you know....:

Life's poem and the Sex Pages

The Sex Pages II: Sexual Eruption

The "N" word!  Do you use it?  What does it mean to you?  What would you do if someone NOT black called you the "N" word?

What are your thoughts on the "N" word?

  1. I am not a fan of the word, and I don't believe that I have ever used it in conversation or when addressing anyone. It's rare, but in my head I have said a few "N**** please" s and "N***** don't know how to act". I am also guilty of singing along to songs that say it. It doesn't make it right, but I'm being honest. It bothers the hell out of me when I hear black people use it around other races and when people use it ALL of the time.

I don't want to be called the "N" word by anyone black or otherwise, but in elementary school a white boy called me the "N" word. He barely got it all the way out before I slapped the piss out of him. I didn't even have to think about it, my body just reacted by slapping the hell out of him. I think that was the hardest that I have ever slapped anyone in my life, and he walked around with my handprint on his face the rest of the day. When the teacher asked what happened, he didn't open his mouth. I was so upset that I couldn't stop shaking. It's been 27 years since that happened, and I can still remember how angry and hurt I felt.

    1. Well there was a time when u used the word on a daily, but that was a long time ago. In our community (black) its used and not in a derogatory way. But like I said its been years since I've used it. I try not. Does it slip out from time to time, yes and that does not make it right. As for someone of another race calling me the "N" word....won't be pretty. Thanks for your words watchurmouth.

  2. I won't lie...I have used it before but I shouldn't have. I think that the word should be banned altogether. It has such a negative connotation. I really irks me when I hear black people call each other that in fun but when someone else...someone of another ethnicity says it they get really bent out of shape. I don't think that anyone should use the word at all.

    1. Thanks for your words Anonymous, I take it that you are white. Thank you for your honesty. I agree that the word is very negative and should not be used but we all know its never going away. Thanks again for your words.

I use the word all the time we grew up using it in the hood and I'm not offended when a brother holla at me what up my n@#$. now when a woman is mad at me and she shoots out a couple n-words, to me that's the equivilant to me calling her a bitch. I don't ever want to be called that by a white person for any reason. now I'm conscious enough to know when not to use the word, like if I'm around a more sophisticated crowd or when I'm around white people. bottom line the word (for what ever reason) has evolved into something other then just a degrading word to our race. should it had? absolutely not. do I use it yes. maybe one day I'll stop!

    1. I'm like you jftjohn, I've used it and pretty much grew up using it. Back then we didn't look at it as bad...unless someone else called you it. Its funny how moving the word, and many others, around in a sentence can give it a totally different meaning. But I think the biggest issue comes from WHO is the one usinging the word. Thanks for your words jftjohn.
